He orders his steak well done and slathers it with ketchup
On February 25, 2017, Trump ventured out into the sometimes-unfriendly confines of Washington, D.C., to enjoy his first inside-the-Beltway restaurant meal as president. He dined at BLT Prime by David Burke, located at the Trump International Hotel. According to the Independent Journal Review’s Benny Johnson, who had a ringside seat, Trump ordered a $54 dry-aged strip steak well done … and with ketchup. Of course, there’s a word for people who order their steak with ketchup — and that word is “children.” He could have saved himself 53 bucks and change by ordering the SpaghettiOs and then just paying the corkage fee for his juice box.
In addition, as everyone knows, requesting your steak well done is an insult to the chef, the cow, and anyone who has ever bought a George Foreman Grill. Then again, maybe steak just isn’t his thing. You can’t be a world-renowned expert on health care policy, macroeconomics, military strategy, nuclear nonproliferation, and steak. There’s just not enough time in the day.
“And believe me, I understand steaks. It’s my favorite food, and these are the best.” — Donald Trump, in an ad for the now-defunct Trump Steaks, which for a very short time were sold in the Sharper Image catalog. Here’s just one representative online review of Trump Steaks’ offerings: “Nothing but grease, and shrinkage was astonishing! … No redeeming qualities,” stated the reviewer, who may or may not have been Marla Maples and may or may not have been talking about the steaks. It’s impossible to know for sure.
