Trans people don't disrupt military and leer at women in locker rooms — but Trump sure does
In the past two weeks, Donald Trump has gone out of his way to officially discriminate against LGBTQ people and defend Nazis — which would only make sense if we’d invaded South Beach on D-Day to rid the world of Gloria Gaynor.
Under the cover of a devastating hurricane, of all things, Trump issued a directive on Friday prohibiting transgender Americans from enlisting in the military.
This is at least the second time the Trump administration has dropped a big flaming bag of fuck-you on the doorstep of transgender Americans.
Back in February — in accordance with the administration’s unofficial “undo every good thing Obama ever did” rule — Trump rescinded protections for transgender students who, under Obama administration guidelines, were allowed to use bathrooms and other facilities corresponding to their gender identity. Of course, there’s no evidence that trans people are a threat to anyone in bathrooms, but when has evidence ever mattered to this president?
The irony, of course, is that Trump could have done far more to protect women and girls from leering perverts by stapling his eyelids to his scrotum and FedExing himself to Greenland.
In a 2005 episode of The Howard Stern Show, Trump practically jumped up and down waving his arms and screaming, “If I ever run for president, don’t vote for me! I’M A TOTAL PERV!”
Here’s the transcript:
"Well, I'll tell you the funniest is that before a show, I'll go backstage and everyone's getting dressed, and everything else, and you know, no men are anywhere, and I'm allowed to go in because I'm the owner of the pageant and therefore I'm inspecting it. You know, I'm inspecting because I want to make sure that everything is good. You know, the dresses. 'Is everyone okay?' You know, they're standing there with no clothes. 'Is everybody okay?' And you see these incredible-looking women, and so, I sort of get away with things like that.”
Then, in a shocking 2016 exposé that revealed everything Trump had already admitted on the air in front of millions of people, Buzzfeed alleged that Trump had walked in on several Miss Teen USA contestants:
"Four women who competed in the 1997 Miss Teen USA beauty pageant said Donald Trump walked into the dressing room while contestants — some as young as 15 — were changing.
"'I remember putting on my dress really quick because I was like, Oh my god, there’s a man in here,’” said Mariah Billado, the former Miss Vermont Teen USA."
"Trump, she recalled, said something like, 'Don’t worry, ladies, I’ve seen it all before.'
"Three other women, who asked to remain anonymous for fear of getting engulfed in a media firestorm, also remembered Trump entering the dressing room while girls were changing. Two of them said the girls rushed to cover their bodies, with one calling it 'shocking' and 'creepy.'
"The third said she was clothed and introduced herself to Trump."
Meanwhile, Trump claims transgender troops are a “disruption” to the military. What disruption could transgender people cause that could possibly equal sending an aircraft carrier in the wrong direction, making empty threats to a nuclear-armed maniac, playing footsie with Vladimir Putin, placing conditions on the fulfillment of our NATO obligations, picking adolescent fights with our most trusted allies, threatening to invade Venezuela, and creating military policy via Twitter?
Transgender people have served and are serving honorably — whereas Trump got a draft deferment for mysterious “bone spurs” and tells real soldiers he always wanted to get the Purple Heart.
We need a Trump ban, not a trans ban. #itmfa
